improved the Finnegans Wake text searching algorithm to differentiate between
"soft hyphens" (indicating a word split into two at the end of a line), which are,
as before, silently ignored by the text search (e.g. "Belchum's" [009.30-.31]), and
"hard hyphens" (regular hyphens or dashes that just happen to land at the end of a line),
which are now no longer ignored by the text search (e.g. "Sophy-Key-Po" [009.34-.35])

In the past couple of weeks or so, Fweet has come under an attack of web bots
that has led to occasional deterioration in performance, at one point even causing
the website to crash, requiring a reboot. As traditional methods of blocking these
bots have failed, I have resorted to implementing a heuristic algorithm that
attempts to determine whether a Fweet search had been initiated by a human
or a bot, aborting the latter. Since this method, based on the search's parameters,
is by no means perfect, it may lead to a valid search run by a human (e.g. you)
being mistakenly thought of as that of a bot. If that happens, you will see a
message reading something like "Sorry, this search looks like it has been run
by a robot. If instead you are a human attempting to run a valid and useful search,
please contact me via the 'Comment on Me!!' button below", in which case I
would be grateful if you were indeed to contact me, so that we can together find a
solution and thereby improve the heuristic algorithm.

due to an overload created by aggressive and unruly web bots, coinciding with my being
without internet access while travelling in and around Antarctica, Fweet was
inaccessible for two whole weeks, from 21 January to 4 February, causing much dismay and
severe withdrawal symptoms all around the world
I am slowly working on an imperfect solution to reduce the risk of this happening again
